I suspect a nmbuer of colleges will use college GPA rather than high school GPA, for a nmbuer of reasons, among which are the ability to pass the gen-ed requirements with some margin over skin of teeth. Using college GPA would allow reasonable assessment of older students who come back to college or transfer from community colleges. For these students, high school grades and SATs are not going to be nearly as useful a threshold as performance in recently-completed college classes.April 18, 2014 at 5:28 pm #38452
While I am heavily in favor of irtegnating technology into schools, I also am aware that the technology in and of itself is not the solution. Technology competent teachers are a must, but even this all important aspect is not enough. What is also needed is, and this is where I agree with the author, to urge educators to focus on the desired result student learning and use technology only when it helps achieve that goal . Unfortunately it will take one generation more before old-school book teachers afraid of technology to give way to younger computer savvy, and hopefully well educated, teachers take over. And yes, technology integration is or should be an important goal for schools. Important not just because of the skills learned, but also because most learning in the future will be done in this manner. Skills on how to effectively search and be critical of information found on the internet, should also be taught. Computer research skills are as important as the integration of computers. We must change our way of thinking and evolve our education system in this manner.April 18, 2014 at 7:14 pm #38471

Coal tar is often prescribed, however many report the unpleasant
smell makes it difficult to use. Calcipotriol cream is
an effective and safe treatment for psoriasis in the flexures
and should be applied twice daily.May 27, 2014 at 6:34 am #40373
